The Business Festival: the benefits of working together
Kindly contributed by Marc Astley, CEO, Astley Media
Running a business is tough. Running a business in Devon is particularly tough.
Our county has always struggled to find its voice when up against regional behemoths such as the Northern Powerhouse and the Midlands Engine, and that was even before Brexit.
However, there is an innate predilection towards looking out for, and helping, each other. And that was evident this week at the fourth Fast Track to Growth Business Festival.
FT2G provides support, advice and expertise to a wide range of businesses, mostly start ups.
Registration is free as the programme is supported by generous industry expert partners: Astley Media, Commissioning HR, Devon County Council, Momentum South West, NatWest, PKF Francis Clark, Stephens Scown and South West Business Support Solutions.
This year, in particular, there was a real buzz around the event with record attendances at the various workshops and 121 sessions on offer.
FT2G offers free business support throughout the year with the culmination being a pitch event where one business will win £10,000 of business support from the partner organisations.
As well as the prize, one of the greatest benefits to participants is the contacts they make and the friendships they forge through the programme.
A number of business who attended last year’s event have since formed close associations and developed joint business ventures.
This got us thinking… shouldn’t more of us be collaborating, more of the time?
Rather than spending energy on competing, why not reflect on the partnerships, collaborations and shared opportunities which might benefit your business?
We know the will is there – it was demonstrated over again at our event this week.
Why not make the most move and start your collaborative business growth journey?
All Devon based-businesses are invited to find out more about the programme and join for free at: www.ft2g.co.uk
Members are all encouraged to get the most out of their membership by applying for the two-day Intensive Programme where one business will be awarded £10,000 worth of business support. We’re looking for 20 ambitious businesses – deadline Wednesday 1 May!
