Fast Track to Growth Intensive Learning Continues at Exeter Science Park
Updated: Jun 7, 2019
The second of the Fast Track to Growth (FT2G) Intensive Workshops took place yesterday at Exeter Science Park.
The shortlisted businesses learnt from the three remaining partners. Focusing on accounting with PKF Francis Clark, legal protection with Stephens Scown and developing your staff with Commissioning HR. The day concluded with advice and top-tips for the FT2G Pitch event.
The day started with Caroline Butler and Sonia Fisher from PKF Francis Clark exploring the many different funding options available to businesses who are looking to grow. The various streams provided food for thought for the ambitious business people in the room.
Next up was the entertaining and informative, Tom Chartres-Moore, IP and IT solicitor at Stephens Scown law firm. Tom shared insight into the fascinating world of intellectual property (design, trade marks, patents, copyright), how it exists across various businesses and how the finalists can protect their IP and use it to their advantage.
Commissioning HR closed the morning with Founder, Alison Lambert, encouraging participants to consider their ‘good work offer’ which are the foundations when hiring for growth.
Throughout the afternoon the finalists heard more about the pitch event which will take place on Thursday 13 June and found out more about what the partners are looking for. At the Pitch event each finalist will present how their business would benefit from £10,000 worth of ongoing business support. At the end of the evening the FT2G partners will select one ambitious business as the winner of FT2G 2019 and will work with the FT2G partners throughout 2019.
The second FT2G intensive workshop was another informative and inspirational day. A big thank you to Exeter Science Park for hosting us, and to the presenting partners PKF Francis Clark, Stephens Scown and Commissioning HR and to all of the other partners who attended to share their advice and top-tips for the pitch event next week.
